Biodegradable EPS Foam products launch by JASA ECO

Saturday February 26, 2011

The biodegradable element makes it more eco-friendly

THE JASA Eco Biodegradable Foam Products are all set to appeal to traders and consumers who want to conform to green policies and further embrace eco-friendly habits for a greener environment.
The products are manufactured by Greatpac Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Wawasan TKH Holdings Bhd, that is touted as the first and only company to have successfully developed fully biodegradable foam food packaging in Malaysia.
The recently launched Jasa Eco Biodegradable Foam Products complements Greatpac’s collection of eco-friendly food and beverage packaging products under the Jasa Eco brand, which also includes a corn starch-based range and a compostable range.
Environmental-friendly: (from left) Greatpac Sdn Bhd senior manager Loong Kin Leong, Wawasan TKH Holdings Bhd CEO Dato Tan Boon Pun, Douglas, Dato Tan Hoe Pin and RicheBio Sdn Bhd managing director Christopher Chin having a look at some of the biodegradable products.
“Jasa Eco Biodegradeable Foam Products are a revolutionary new product range produced by Greatpac which uses an organic additive called EcoPure that makes it 100% biodegradable,” said Greatpac senior manager Douglas Tan.
“The Jasa Eco Biodegradable Foam Products offer an alternative to the existing foam packaging and takes about two years to biodegrade in a landfill environment,” added Douglas.
The products are presently available in the form of food packaging like lunchboxes, plates, bowls, trays and even microwaveable containers in various sizes, with plans to include beverage packaging like cups in the future.
“Among the benefits of the Jasa Eco Biodegradable Foam Products are its familiar shape and size (to existing foam packaging), non-porous and good insulation properties, affordability and biodegradable element,” said Douglas.
Full sets: The biodegradable products are available in the various forms of food packaging.
“While our products are more expensive than conventional foam packaging in terms of price point, the impact is just a small increment of five to 10 sen but it has a positive effect for the environment.”
Douglas said the products fulfil one of Greatpac’s major corporate social responsibility goals to help save the environment, as well as to ensure the health and safety of their consumers.
“Our products are accredited with food safety contact certificates from Sirim, SGS and the US Food and Drug Administration,” he said.
Greatpac managing director Datuk Tan Hoe Pin said the company is projecting to have the Jasa Eco products contribute some 20% of Greatpac’s overall turnover by the end of this year, with a 5-10% increment every year, for the local market.
“We are expecting our export market to grow faster as the foreign markets have not come across biodegradable foam products and we have already received interest from Australian, American and European countries,” he said, adding that Greatpac’s turnover was close to RM70 million last year.
Jasa Eco Biodegradable Foam Products are available for sale directly through Greatpac, and will also be made available nationwide via major hypermarket and retailer chains like Tesco, Giant, Carrefour and Parkson from April onwards.

SOMETIMES THE LITTLE GUYS WIN

September 30th, 2010
You’ve probably noticed us blogging/talking/tweeting about SB 1454 recently– that’s the California Senate Bill that would have made it illegal for us to sell our biodegradable plastic trash and food bags in California. SB 1454 would have been great news for the big players in the corn plastic industry, effectively sidelining their competition in the state.
Well, corn cobs all over California did a little dance yesterday when they learned that SB 1454 was VETOED by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger (Insert cheering sounds from corn cobs delighted by their newfound freedom)…Yes! We believe strongly that this bill, while well-intentioned, would not in fact have made green product labeling clearer to consumers, but rather would have crippled the numerous businesses like ours that are trying to utilize non-corn-plastic technology to solve the problem of forever-plastic. It ain’t all about the corn plastic, we say!
In his statement about the veto, the Governor expressed concern that SB 1454 would have had “unforeseen consequences” –by equating compost claims with biodegradability claims–two very different things. We most certainly agree.
At Green Genius, our mission is to reduce the amount of “forever plastic” cluttering up this Earth– and this bill sounded like it was environmentally-minded too. But the truth is, we need as many businesses and individuals as possible out there trying to solve the problem– now is not the time to squash innovation. So, way to go Arnold! And three cheers for innovation!

Letter from the Bio-Tec Environmental LLC's CEO about products claiming they are the same as EcoPure

Bio Tec Environmental, LLC would like to inform all of its current and prospective clients, that are very interested in our biodegradable technology, that we have competitors that routinely refer to Bio-Tec Environmental technology and products as theirs. Our competitors have gone so far as to use Bio-Tec proprietary test reports, redact out Bio-Tec company name and/ or our test laboratory name, and present our proprietary reports as theirs.

This unscrupulous business activity has been a nuisance and has caused confusion for several of our clients, many of which have converted from our competitor's products over to ours once they realize that our product performs much differently and is far superior to our competitors based on test results.

We believe that it is best to make as many of our current and prospective customers aware of this problem before they reach a final decision on which biodegradable technology to implement for their company.

Our products are sold only directly by our company and authorized distributors. If a company claims to be selling our products, you should ask them the name and contact phone number of the laboratory that performed the test results you are given and call up the laboratory and ask them the name of the company they work with. If they will not give you contact information for the testing laboratory then realize that you are being deceived.
Our products are sold only directly by our company and authorized distributors. Our authorized distributors are: __________  ___________ ___________ _____________.
Please feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions about this, or about whether the company you are working with sells our products.

Home Project

homeproject  Jun 03, 2009 — We are living in exceptional times. Scientists tell us that we have 10 years to change the way we live, avert the depletion of natural resources and the catastrophic evolution of the Earth's climate.

The stakes are high for us and our children. Everyone should take part in the effort, and HOME has been conceived to take a message of mobilization out to every human being.

For this purpose, HOME needs to be free. A patron, the PPR Group, made this possible. EuropaCorp, the distributor, also pledged not to make any profit because Home is a non-profit film.

HOME has been made for you : share it! And act for the planet.
